First Shift Production Brewer
Grand Armory Brewing Company is a fast-growing, award-winning craft brewery located in Grand Haven, MI. Our taproom opened in July of 2015 at the Armory Building, a 113 year old historic facility located at 17 S 2nd St in the heart of Grand Haven’s downtown district, just blocks from the waterfront and Lake Michigan’s beaches
Position Summary:
This is a unique opportunity to work for a dynamic, entrepreneurial company. We are looking to add a first shift Production Brewer to our team. You will gain valuable experience on the brew deck and play a key role in the growth and production of our beers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Wort production on our 15bbl Premier stainless brewhouse
- CIP of brewhouse
- Prepare, mill in grains and weigh out hops for brewing
- Transfer of beer to fermentation tanks
- Miscellaneous cellar operations including yeast handling and pitching, dry hopping, and general cleaning and sanitizing
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on-time
- Knowledge of instrumentation
Additional Requirements
- Mash in, Mash out, wort transfer, yeast pitching, gravity checks, pH testing, sample taking, knockout, and oxygenation
- Brewhouse to tank beer transfers in an aseptic manner
- Maintaining clean grain area and mill room
- Setting up grain for batches
- CIP Brewhouse
- Capable of standing on your feet for long periods of time
- Reliable transport to work
- Physical capabilities of regularly lifting 55 pounds up to shoulder height and maneuvering up to 165 pounds
- Comfortable working at heights, in cramped spaces or awkward positions, and in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a noisy environment
- Capable of following all safety procedures while working with potentially hazardous machinery, chemicals with proper PPE and safeguards in place
- Ability to follow all brewhouse SOP’s
Qualifications
- General knowledge of the brewing process
- 1 to 2 years Shift Brewing experience
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent communication, time management, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Understanding of OSHA and industry standard safety measures
- Commitment to quality, safety, and hard work
- Report all low levels of inventory to Production Manager as necessary.
